Flying HIPA — American IPA (West Coast)
ABV: 6.4% | IBU: 54 | Color: 6 SRM (golden amber)
Cleared for takeoff. Flying HIPA is a bold, uncompromising West Coast IPA loaded with Simcoe, Citra, and Amarillo hops — delivering waves of pine, citrus, and tropical fruit from the first sip to the last. The dry hop addition dials up the aroma to full throttle while Vienna and Munich malts add subtle depth to the clean pale malt base. This is a high-flying, bitter-forward IPA that doesn't ask permission. Dry hop. Deploy. Drink.
What’s in the Box
Grain Bill
- Pale Ale Malt — a clean, bready base that lets the hops lead, 89% of the bill
- Vienna Malt — light toasty complexity
- Munich malt — a touch of malty depth to back up the big hop bill
Hops
- Simcoe at 60 and 30 minutes for a firm, resinous bitterness
- Citra at 10 minutes for bright tropical flavor
- Amarillo and Citra on a 20-minute hop stand for aroma
- Amarillo, Citra, and Simcoe as a 5-day dry hop for maximum aroma and juicy hop character
Yeast
LalBrew (Lallemand) BRY-97 American West Coast Ale (dry)
Tasting Notes
Golden amber with a huge tropical and citrus aroma, firm bitterness, a clean malt base, and a dry, hop-forward finish.

A Premium Kit Without the Premium Price
A lot of the big-name kit sellers stop at grain, hops, and instructions — yeast, priming sugar, bottle caps, and even grain bags get sold as separate add-ons. MoreBeer, for example, states outright that its recipe kits “DO NOT include grain bags, yeast or priming sugar.” Add those items up at most retailers and you're looking at another $10–$15 on top of the kit price before you can actually finish a batch.
Every Kettle & Keg kit already includes the dry yeast, the bottle caps, and the priming sugar. What you see is what it costs to go from box to bottle — no surprise add-ons at checkout.
